5 Reasons Every Amazon Seller Needs An Email List

Updated: Aug 25, 2019

Selling on Amazon is not what it used to be. The massive increase in competition has made it much harder to not only launch new products and get the ranking you need to be profitable but to maintain the success of existing listings.

Competition is just one thing you need to worry about. Amazon is always increasing their fees and lowering your margins without increased volume in sales, that means less money in your pocket.

The golden days of Amazon are long over but there are still sellers who are crushing it.

One of the easiest ways to maintain consistent success and growth on Amazon is to have an email list.

Email lists are nothing new and have been used by e-commerce owners since the birth of the internet, but they actually offer much more value to Amazon owners for a number of reasons.

Here are 5 no-brainer benefits to having an Email list as an Amazon seller:

1. Security: What happens if your Amazon listing gets shut down? You are left with a ton of inventory with no platform to sell it on. Well if you have an email list of even only 5,000 subscribers, you will still have an audience to market to and slowly push your stock so you aren’t SOL. Now multiple that list by 10x and you are doing just fine.

2. Launching New Products: The key to launching new products is and always has been, a lot of quick sales and reviews. By having an email list of raving fans of your brand to tap into, makes generating anywhere from 10-100 sales a piece of cake. No discounts, no ads, no extra expenses when launching new products. Simply send out a series of product launching emails and voila! You are on the first page.

3. Boost existing listings that have dropped: It happens to all of us. You have a listing that was killing it and generating upwards of 5-6 figures a month and all of the sudden it goes to Sh%t. This can be for a number of reasons whether it’s changes to the algorithm, increased competition, fake reviews, shady competitors down rating your reviews, or just plain bad luck. Having an email list to leverage can help you generate consistent reviews for these listings, slowly helping you climb back up.

4. Generate consistent reviews: The more sales you can generate – the more reviews you get. Therefore, by consistently getting more sales from your email list, you will organically be getting more reviews - IT’S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

5. Rewards: Amazon rewards you for sending 3rd party traffic to their platform. Amazon loves when you send them free traffic, more traffic on Amazon = more Amazon sales. If they see you are sending them boat loads of free, high quality traffic that converts to buyers, they will reward your listing.

If those 5 benefits aren’t enough to convince you that you NEED an email list to stay competitive selling on Amazon today then I don’t know what is…

Most Amazon sellers are aware of email lists but aren’t sure how they could start building one.

The most effective and common lead magnets Amazon sellers can use build Email lists:

1.eBooks 2. Surveys 3. Challenges 4. Free + Shipping offers 5. Discounts 6. Guides/Reports

Any of the above lead magnets can be used by most e-commerce businesses to build targeted email lists in their market.

We recently helped a baby brand on Amazon build an email list of 175,000 new mothers, and we were able to do so paying only $0.47 per lead! (View Case Study)
